Open the date you want, record what you ate, check calorie and macro totals, and plan meals for another day.
Open the diary for the right date#
Your food diary belongs to your Personal workspace.
- Select the workspace name in the header and choose your Personal workspace. In Apps, find and install Food Diary, Calorie Counter & Meal Planning.
- Open the app. In Daily diary, choose a Diary date and click Open date.
- Check the date before you add a portion. The calorie and macro totals are for logged portions on that date.
Find and save a food from the database#
The USDA FoodData Central SR Legacy catalogue includes 7,793 reference foods measured per 100 g. Use the package label for a product whose values differ from the catalogue.
- Open Search food database and type a name in Search foods, such as banana or brown rice. Match the preparation, such as raw or cooked, to what you ate.
- Open Reference details to inspect the source and available fibre, sugar, saturated fat, sodium and cholesterol values. The diary totals track calories, protein, carbohydrate and fat.
- Click Save to my foods. The food is selected in Add a portion. Choose your meal, enter the number of grams and click Log portion.
Save the label you use#
Use the package label or your own calculated recipe for a custom entry. Later edits apply to new portions. Earlier portions keep the values you logged.
- Go to Food labels and recipes. Enter the Food or recipe name.
- Set Label basis to per serving or per 100 g to match your source. Enter calories in kcal and protein, carbohydrate and fat in grams. Enter zero only when the source lists zero.
- For a recipe, you can add Ingredients or recipe notes. Enter values for the basis you selected, then click Save food label.
Log portions or plan a meal#
A food with 120 kcal per serving adds 180 kcal if you log 1.5 servings.
- Under Add a portion, select a Saved food and the Meal. Enter Portion in grams or Portion in servings as prompted by the selected food.
- Click Log portion if you ate it or Plan portion if you are planning ahead.
- To count a planned portion, open its diary date, find it under Planned meals and click Log as eaten. Check the updated daily totals.
- If the date, food or amount was wrong, remove the entry and add it again with the corrected details.
Keep your diary private#
Only the owner of the Personal workspace can open the diary. Family and staff roles do not grant access. Use the diary for your own records and choose the date explicitly when entering food from a different day.
Daily totals are estimates based on the values and portions you enter. Use the original packaging or your own calculated recipe as your source. This diary provides recordkeeping and meal planning.
Keep the active workspace, actual business requirements and current setup summary in view. A guide explains a choice; it does not make that choice for you.
