Record cumulative household readings, compare usage, and use dated tariffs and goals.
Set up a meter and take readings#
Open Home Energy & Water in your personal workspace. Give the meter a label and choose the unit shown on it. Use separate records when meters use different units.
Enter the cumulative number and the date you read it. Keep dates in order. The app subtracts the earlier number from the later one to show usage. Start a new baseline when a meter resets or is replaced. Usage across that break is left blank.
Compare a usage estimate and daily goal#
Enter a charge per meter unit, currency, source and effective date. The estimate multiplies recorded usage by that rate. An interval that crosses a rate change stays unpriced. The estimate covers the variable charge, and actual bills may include fixed fees, taxes, credits or tiered rates.
Set your own target units per day and effective date. The app multiplies the target by the days in an interval when a single target applies. It compares records entered in the same meter unit.
Correct a record and retain its history#
Correct the latest current reading first. Give the reason, then save a replacement reading when needed. You can correct a tariff or goal separately. Original records remain in meter history and corrected records are excluded from calculations.
Archive a meter you no longer use, or restore it to add more activity. Readings and estimates remain private to the personal workspace owner. Enter figures from your own records or use fictional values in Demo.
