Compare a proposed bill of materials with the released original, record independent approval and control when the new revision takes effect.
Choose the exact released bill#
Set up Manufacturing and its Inventory prerequisite in the corporate workspace. Choose the released bill for the same finished item and confirm that it has no newer Manufacturing draft. Select a different verified owner or administrator as reviewer.
Record the reason, production impact and earliest release date in the workspace business time zone. Enter the exact component list and positive whole quantities. Review what changes from the original.
Link controlled engineering evidence#
If the review needs a drawing or specification, use a PDF in Document Management. Record its document ID, exact version and SHA-256. Submission retains the exact reference. Give the reviewer and releasing owner the necessary Document Management access through that app.
Use the original reference when checking the revision. A newer PDF does not replace the one already submitted.
Submit and review independently#
The author submits the exact draft with a review reference. The assigned reviewer compares the proposed components, effective date and evidence. Approve the draft or return it with a reference to the required changes.
For a returned change, prepare a new revision. Earlier versions and decisions remain in the history. If Manufacturing changed in the meantime, select its current released version and review the changes again.
Release after the effective date#
As workspace owner, recheck the approved revision and release it on or after the effective date. Manufacturing receives a new released revision. Existing work orders retain the bill they originally referenced.
If the current bill or reviewer authority changed, resolve that change before releasing. Cancel obsolete engineering changes and leave their original review history available.
Keep the active workspace, actual business requirements and current setup summary in view. A guide explains a choice; it does not make that choice for you.
